Namazake, also Nama Sake, is a style of sake that is totally unpasteurized. Sake is usually pasteurized twice to make the product shelf-stable and longer-lasting, but the result is that some flavors and aromas are lost along the way. Gekkeikan first pioneered microfiltration technology in 1984 to deliver the taste of freshly pressed sake without requiring refrigeration or sacrificing shelf-life. 40 years on, Gekkeikan’s 2024 new release Nama is a huge blast of flavor, releasing the full potential of unpasteurized sake for a bold, new, exciting sake experience from the masters of sake brewing.
Style
Powerful, juicy aromas of fruit, featuring bold overripe banana alongside cantaloupe, strawberry, bubblegum, and stewed Granny Smith apples.
Soft, smooth with a velvety sweetness on the palate, that is quickly countered by mouthwatering, juicy acidity. More ripe banana and melon, hints of acetone, and with a gentle whisper of toasted chestnuts.
Finish is long and juicy, leaving a smooth creamy finish of banana and hints of apple to enjoy long after swallowing. Serve well chilled.
