Horin Ultra Premium Imported from Japan

Gekkeikan’s long-standing flagship premium brand, Horin is crafted with utmost care and precision. Two sake rice varieties, Yamada Nishiki — also known as the “king” of sake rice varieties — and Gohyakumangoku, are expertly blended during the brewing process to create this luxurious Junmai Daiginjo sake with a beautiful fruity nose. Its subtle flavors are well-balanced, and it is exceptionally smooth with a long, clean finish. Best served in a wine glass to appreciate the green apple, melon, and pear aromas.

Style

This sake is very aromatic. Clean and rounded on the nose, with a complex bouquet of aromas. Creamy rice, banana, and fresh cheese feature first, followed by an appearance of fruit like melon, pear, Asian pear, and green apple.

The palate is very smooth, opening up with lively fruit and bold acidity: more banana, apple, fresh cheese. This is quickly followed by robust umami flavors of mushrooms and chestnuts. Though the body is rather full and bold, the acidity keeps the mouthfeel refreshing, and the umami keeps the palate medium-dry overall.

The finish is long, ending with fleeting hints of prune.
